Spark Joy and Thrive

Why am I so passionate about sparking joy and finding #ReasonsToSmile?

For me it is the vehicle through which I can shift my attention and feelings in the moment when I notice that downward spiral start or if I get triggered by a situation or person.

By connecting to joy I can move away from perceived or real threat that has me experience fear, anger, shame or sadness and move towards compassion, gratitude, pride and trust.

Where does this wisdom come from?

My own experience of being an executive coach, receiving therapeutic support and learning from the fields of neuroscience, psychology and coaching have given me; novel approaches, tools and awareness into how my brain & body function under stress and when I am at my best.

Neuroscientist Lisa Feldman Barrett states, “An emotion is your brain’s creation of what your bodily sensations mean, in relation to what is going on around you in the world”.

Notice the little things.

Even in uncertain and challenging times it is important to notice those moments that bring us joy; a cloud in blue sky, a decorated tree, shared laughter, achieving a to-do list, caring for someone in need or a gentle smile from a passing stranger.

This practice brings a sense of balance and supports us grow our resilience each time we face a challenge however big or small.

We can thrive. Together.

As the festive season draws nearer for many of us, we can find ourselves caught in the busyness of getting everything done and it is also a time when we can take a moment to pause and look back on the old year and forward into a new one.

What intentions do you have for 2022 that might just #SparkJoy?
